Google Keyword Tool
The Google Keyword tool is the main method on how to choose keywords to target niches. It all begins by registering for a free Google AdWords account. Once on AdWords, under the reporting and tools tab bar click on the Google keyword tool tab. Put the word into the box and click on the search tab.
In order to figure out what keyword you would like to go for, you don’t have to be too choosy because the ultimate keyword you select many not be the initial one you started with (I’ll explain this). I encourage you to have fun with this creative process.
If there is interest in a given keyword, a whole list of keyword related phases will be listed look at the numbers on the right to determine the number of monthly searches and the competition box to see who else is out there on the keyword already. You will be amazed at finding plenty of niches to be in. There is so much out there it seems, you could never get to it all.
Google Keyword Tool Analysis
1. You want to see the number of searches going up and minimal numbers are around 1,000+/-200 monthly searches. When looking at the numbers what is more important is the trend. If you can determine the trend, some of these keyword searches explode in the future months. If you pay attention, you can position yourself well if the searches go up in the following months. You get to ride the wave of traffic to your blog or site. Keep firmly in mind: Not every keyword performs either.
2. Make a list of keywords as you work along. You can always delete weaker candidates later. See which ones have low competition (halfway or less). Less competition is best, but if no one searching, you lose so choose wisely.
3. Many low competition keywords will have low volume so see if you can notice trends over time by following a few of the best upside candidates every month or so to identify trends. Keep notes on them is you can. It will save you work down the road.
4. Choose the lowest competitive keyword for the most searches.
5. If none of the competition is low enough then pass and start looking for another keyword.
Some keywords have been over pursued and your chances of getting serious attention from the search engines is looking more like a pipe dream than a real possibility. You don’t get down, you just find another keyword. Many times the Google Keyword tool just gives them to you and you pick and choose based on the data.
Only use the Google keyword tool to chase niches you will most likely not be successful in. Spend your time one keywords that actually have a chance of winning. Set up your game so that you win, not lose. Many waste too much time chasing keywords they don’t really have a chance of getting serious attention.
